Mind Spin

Re: Brainstorm, development of creative thinking, problem solving team.

Participants: 10 to 25 (may be more or less see below some suggestions for change)

Time: 10 – 45 minutes

Supplies: index cards, pens or pencils, round tables,

Preparation:

Breaking the group into teams 3 to 5 participants. Ask each team of 3 to 5 participants to sit at separate round tables (round tables help, though not necessary).

Place a large stack in the center of each round table

They have the theme or the idea of being "brainstorm" written on a chalkboard or PowerPoint slides – "What What …?" we can do to …?" ex. "How can we better understand the needs of our customers?", "What can be done to improve the quality of this product? "" How can we improve our performance? "

Delivery:

Ask each team of 3 to 5 participants to sit at the tables. Each player is dealt 5 cards blank index. The remaining letters (~ 100) are placed in the center of the table.

Explain that this will be a brainstorming session that will be individual and team basis. In a brain storming session there are no right or wrong, and no idea is off limits.

Participants will have two, five rounds minute to write as many solutions as possible on the chips – One idea per card (an idea written on a card). If they use more than the five index cards get another letter from the central pier.

After a idea is written on the Participant tab closes the tab down on the table upside down on your right (looking down side is that the idea is written in). The SLAM is important – the sound and vibration of hacking the card on the table adds a tangible sense of "Mind Spin" that mocks the more activity!

If at any time a participant can not think of possible solutions to the issue topic that can grab a card from the top of the stack of participants on the left. They have 3 options before hitting the card down to your right;

a) Just SLAM below right after the reading and pick another card from the left …

b) Lee, were inspired by him, SLAM bottom right and take a blank card write your inspiration … before touching the card on the right idea …

c) Lee, add to it with a question or comment, then SLAM down before taking another card from the left …

Ask participants to continue until they hear the train whistle, bell, etc. ..

Once you complete the round 1 – the facilitator gathers all the index cards idea (of all equipment) and the deck. The facilitator distributes evenly the idea of index cards for small teams. Ask participants in each team to distribute the idea index card between team members and put them face down in front of each participant.

Round 2 – Starts the same as round 1 – this time if the participant reaches a catch block idea index card idea from the stack in front of them – then SLAM on the right. It was not until all the cards from round 1 inch in front of the participants have been the participant can take a card from their neighbors to the left stack.

Ask participants to continue until they hear the train whistle, bell, etc. ..

Once Round 2 is done the facilitator meets every idea of index cards.

What does the facilitator do with all these ideas index card?

Read through them – there will be several duplicates – While reading through the ideas, the facilitator can create categories for discussion or choose the 10 best ideas to discuss further.

Facilitation Tips:

SLAM makes this "Mind Spin is more efficient activity.

Encourage participants to keep moving! This is a fast-paced noisy activity – if they do not have grab one of his ideas left – I saw those ideas find their way around a table of 10 to 15 times.

The idea behind the 2nd round is really squeezing the ideas and encourage the entire spectrum of thoughts.

What kind of coffee pot must be buy for office?

Where is the family going on vacation this year?

What are the requirements for our new partner?

What are your goals and expectations from this training?
