The boat I am standing on the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand to watch until at last it looks like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with others. Then someone at my side says: "Here goes!" "Where?" It disappeared from my view … that's all. She is so large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and as capable of stripping their cargo of living freight to the destination. Its small size is in me, not her. And so in that moment when someone at my side says: "Here goes!" There are other eyes – watching their voices and get ready to make the cry of joy, "she comes!"
